About the Opportunity:

An established multinational manufacturer producing high-precision engineered components for automotive, electronics, telecommunications, industrial equipment and medical-device applications. The organization operates multiple manufacturing facilities in Negeri Sembilan and maintains strong international quality and operational standards.

What You'll Be Doing:

The Planning Manager will lead production, demand, capacity and material planning to achieve customer delivery targets while optimising inventory and manufacturing resources. This position will manage the Planning team, strengthen cross-functional execution and improve planning accuracy through data, ERP systems and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain the Master Production Schedule based on customer demand, sales forecasts, available capacity and business priorities.
  • Translate demand requirements into achievable production plans while balancing manpower, machinery, materials, tooling and manufacturing constraints.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy, demand trends, production performance and delivery commitments, implementing recovery plans where required.
  • Lead capacity planning and identify potential production bottlenecks, resource gaps and supply risks before they affect customer fulfilment.
  • Oversee raw-material planning to ensure timely material availability while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to manage procurement priorities, supplier lead times, material shortages and supply-continuity risks.
  • Coordinate tooling requirements and capacity with the relevant technical teams to support current and future production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory health, including excess, slow-moving and obsolete materials, and implement inventory-reduction initiatives.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, Engineering and Quality to ensure effective execution of production plans.
  • Lead regular planning meetings covering demand changes, production status, capacity, material availability, shortages and recovery actions.
  • Resolve planning-related issues and facilitate timely decision-making and communication across departments.
  • Establish and monitor planning KPIs covering delivery performance, schedule adherence, forecast accuracy, inventory and resource utilization.
  • Identify process gaps, data inaccuracies and system limitations, and implement practical improvements to planning workflows.
  • Support ERP optimization, planning automation and data-visibility initiatives to improve accuracy and operational responsiveness.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, FIFO and inventory-optimization practices throughout the planning function.
  • Ensure planning activities comply with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and applicable Quality Management System requirements.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Planning team, including performance management, capability building and succession planning.
  • Prepare planning reports, operational analyses and recommendations for presentation to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in production planning, materials planning, supply-chain planning or production control within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least five years of supervisory or managerial experience leading a planning or supply-chain team.
  • Manufacturing experience within the automotive sector is highly preferred.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Master Production Scheduling, Material Requirements Planning, demand planning and capacity planning.
  • Proficiency in ERP or manufacturing planning systems; experience with JD Edwards or an equivalent platform is advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability for data analysis, reporting and planning purposes.
  • Sound understanding of inventory management, forecasting, production control and manufacturing resource optimization.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, FIFO and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and manufacturing Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proven leadership, coaching and performance-management capabilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills across commercial, operational and technical functions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Results-oriented, accountable and committed to operational excellence.
