POSITION PURPOSE
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the manufacturing plant in Malaysia, ensuring plant safety and environmental compliance, production efficiency, quality adherence, profitability, and continuous improvement. This role requires strong leadership in Lean Manufacturing, discrete manufacturing principles, along with an innovative mindset to drive automation, customer and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
A. Leadership, Strategy & Planning
- Provide strategic directions to align plant operations with objectives in safety, quality, efficiency and cost control.
- Develop and execute annual operational plans, budgets, and KPIs (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity etc.).
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and global assembly standard initiatives to optimize production.
- Foster an innovative culture focusing on automation, digitalization, process improvement, and waste reduction.
B. Operational Excellence & Efficiency
- Oversee manufacturing processes performance and drive BAC operation excellence in the plant
- Ensure on-time delivery (OTD) and quality are met while minimizing production waste.
- Strengthen Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs to reduce machine downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
C. Safety, Compliance & Regulatory
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/14001/45001 etc. standards.
- Maintain an incident free workplace through rigorous safety protocols and behavioral-based programs.
- Lead internal & external audits (ISO, Customer Audits) and corrective action implementation.
D. Financial & Cost Management
- Oversee P&L performance, including cost of production, overheads, labor efficiency, and material utilization.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives (value engineering, supplier negotiations, energy efficiency).
- Manage CAPEX investments for machinery upgrades, automation, and facility expansions.
E. Human Capital & Team Development
- Develop cross-functional teams (Production, EHS, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering).
- Conduct competency assessments, skills training, and succession planning to build a high-performance workforce.
- Promote employee engagement through transparent communication and continuous feedback loops.
F. Customer & Stakeholder Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers, resolving quality/service issues proactively.
- with suppliers, contractors, and government agencies for seamless operations.
- Lead RFQ feasibility assessments to ensure profitable production planning for new projects.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Holds a university degree and has already gained leadership and management experience within a technical production environment
- Has a good knowledge of LEAN principles
- Has strong people management skills which motivate and inspire his team members to achieve excellent results
- Has strong communicative skills can communicate at all levels in an open and transparent way
- Is able to initiate and implement changes thanks to a good balance between drive for results and sense of empathy
- Can influence and work together with all departments without using hierarchical authority
- 10+ years in mechanical industry field manufacturing
- 5+ years in Plant Manager/Operations Head role with P&L responsibility
- Fluent Englishboth in writing and speaking
- Speaking and writing Malay will be an advantage.
