We are looking for a PostgreSQL DBA with around 5 years of experience to support database administration, maintenance, upgrades, patching, backup activities, and production troubleshooting. The candidate should have hands-on experience in managing PostgreSQL database instances and supporting application teams during planned maintenance and upgrade activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PostgreSQL vulnerability patching as per security and compliance requirements.
- Plan and execute PostgreSQL version upgrades with proper validation and rollback planning.
- Run simple SQL queries as required for validation, reporting, or application support.
- Take database backup files and ensure availability of backup copies before planned activities.
- Support application and infrastructure teams during Nexus upgrade activities.
- Troubleshoot PostgreSQL database issues, including scenarios where the DB instance is down or unavailable.
- Monitor database health, availability, storage, connections, and basic performance parameters.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and security teams for planned changes and incident resolution.
- Support database restart, recovery, and basic root cause analysis during outages.
- Maintain documentation for patching, upgrades, backup, and troubleshooting activities.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in PostgreSQL database administration.
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Experience in database patching, upgrades, backup, and recovery support.
- Ability to run basic SQL queries for validation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of database connectivity, logs, services, and instance-level troubleshooting.
- Basic Linux/Unix command knowledge for database support activities.
- Understanding of change management, incident management, and production support processes.
- Ability to work with application teams during planned maintenance windows.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting application upgrades such as Nexus or similar enterprise platforms.
- Exposure to monitoring tools and database alert handling.
- Knowledge of high availability, replication, or disaster recovery concepts will be an added advantage.
