The Principal DevOps Manager is responsible for managing the products in Prime & API DevOps team and driving projects and programs to ensure proper scope definition, prioritization, planning, and execution of work activities. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on experience in DevOps methodologies, including agile practices such as SCRUM. The candidate will also act as Service Owner and Recovery Manager, managing Class A ( 500k) and Class B (100k-500k) projects. Additionally, the role will oversee API lifecycle management and integration strategies, ensuring compliance with standards, security, and financial accountability.

    • Oversee API Lifecycle Management: Ensure proper design, development, deployment, and retirement of APIs across platforms.
    • Manage Integration Platforms: Lead and coordinate activities involving API management tools such as Axway, Apigee, and related integration layers.
    • Ensure Standards & Protocol Compliance: Govern adherence to REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, EDI standards and secure communication protocols (HTTP/S, AS2, SFTP).
    • Implement Security & Compliance Measures: Drive authentication and authorization strategies (OAuth 2.0, JWT), encryption practices, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor Performance & Scalability: Oversee API performance, capacity planning, and observability through dashboards and monitoring tools.
    • Integration Strategy: Define and manage A2A and B2Bi integration patterns, message transformation, and orchestration processes.
    • Budget & Financial Planning: Forecast and manage budgets for API infrastructure, ensuring cost optimization and financial accountability.

Industry Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years in IT services and DevOps leadership roles

Technical Expertise:

  • Operating Systems: 10-15 years
  • Application Systems: 10-15 years
  • Networking & Communications: 10-15 years
  • DevOps methodologies including container platforms (e.g., OpenShift, Kubernetes): 5+ years
  • API Management Platforms (Axway, Apigee) and integration technologies
  • Standards & Protocols: REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, EDI
  • Security Frameworks: OAuth 2.0, JWT, encryption practices
  • Financial planning and budgeting for IT infrastructure

Certifications:

  • University degree in IT-related field
  • Agile methodology certification (e.g., SCRUM)
  • ITIL Foundation preferred

DHL is a German logistics company providing courier, package delivery and express mail service, which is a division of the German logistics firm Deutsche Post. The company group delivers over 1.6 billion parcels per year. DHL Express is market leader for parcel services in Europe and Germany's main Courier and Parcel Service.
The company DHL itself was founded in San Francisco, United States, in 1969 and expanded its service throughout the world by the late 1970s. In 1979, under the name of DHL Air Cargo, the company entered the Hawaiian islands with an inter-island cargo service using two DC-3 and four DC-6 aircraft. Adrian Dalsey and Larry Hillblom personally oversaw the daily operations until its eventual bankruptcy closed the doors in 1983. At its peak, DHL Air Cargo employed just over 100 workers, management and pilots.
