An established international developer and operator of largescale Data Centre is seeking a Principal Engineer (Electrical) to join its regional engineering and delivery team in Johor, Malaysia. This role offers the opportunity to take a handson leadership position in managing the electrical engineering design, construction delivery, and commissioning of data centre projects, ensuring compliance with global technical, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the electrical design review, coordination, and implementation during the data centre design and construction phases.
- Support the Project Manager or Delivery Manager in site management, construction quality control, and HSE compliance.
- Monitor construction progress, ensuring all electrical installations adhere to design intent and company technical standards.
- Review, evaluate, and approve design consultants drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, and vendors to align deliverables, resolve technical issues, and maintain project timelines.
- Maintain and enhance internal engineering standards, particularly for electrical distribution, protection systems, and commissioning protocols.
- Support project commissioning, troubleshooting, and final handover activities.
- Contribute to engineering design development, bestpractice documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in electrical design and construction project delivery, preferably involving data centre or substation projects (33 kV/132 kV/275 kV).
- Strong knowledge of HV electrical distribution systems, power protection studies, and commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with local regulatory standards and authority requirements (e.g., TNB).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to engineering design tools such as IES is advantageous.
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in Chinese or Malay is an advantage.
