JOB PURPOSE
Lead the development and execution of Malaysia's Emerging Technologies ecosystem strategy, focusing on frontier technologies such as Quantum, Space, Advanced Computing and future digital innovations.
The role serves as the MDEC's strategic lead for identifying emerging opportunities, building ecosystem capabilities, fostering partnerships, and accelerating industry readiness to strengthen Malaysia's long-term digital competitiveness and innovation leadership.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Emerging Technology Strategy & Foresight
- Lead strategic planning and ecosystem development for emerging and frontier technologies.
- Identify future growth opportunities and strategic technology priorities.
- Advise MDEC's leadership on long-term technology trends and national competitiveness.

2. Ecosystem Development & Strategic Partnerships
- Build strategic partnerships across government, industry, academia, research institutions and international organisations.
- Strengthen innovation, commercialisation and investment opportunities within emerging technology ecosystems.
- Support development of talent, infrastructure and innovation capabilities.

QUALIFIQATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Preffered a master's degree in a relevant field such as Technology Management, Innovation Management, Engineering, AI, Public Policy or MBA.
Experience Requirements
- About 8–12 years of relevant experience.
- Technology strategist who understands frontier technologies and ecosystem development.
- Experience working with government agencies, regulators, technology companies, financial institutions, industry players, academia, investors, or international partners would be highly valuable.
- Experience in Technology Strategy, Emerging Technologies, Innovation Ecosystems, Research Commercialisation, Government-industry partnerships and National programmes
