Role : Product Innovation & Development (PID) Chemist
Location : Subang Jaya, Selangor
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Development Chemist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have wide experience in developing personal care products at fast-pace environment. This individual will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving products to suit consumer needs and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- New Product Development: Manage product development processes including technical studies, formulation development, product safety clearance, claim substantiation, and product information filing.
- Product Testing & Evaluation: Capable to independently designing and executing experiments. Conducting stability, performance, and sensory testing to support product development and optimization.
- Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and own assigned projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery. Market phasing role where experience in cross-functional collaboration, especially with marketing is essential.
- Troubleshooting: Posted competency to perform investigation and technical support in relating to product complaint, production deviation & raw material quality issue. Continuous improvement to resolve product performance gaps.
- Market Tracking: Keep up with market trends and emerging technologies in the personal care sector. Perform benchmark analysis as needed.
- Good Documentation Practice: Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, testing procedures, and regulatory filings in accordance to company policies.
Key Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Applied Chemistry, Oleo Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a closely related field, with a Second-Class Upper Honours or CGPA above 3.50.
- Good project management, ability to work under pressure and possess a strong sense of urgency.
- Strong understanding of raw materials used in personal care formulations.
- Strong technical competency and analytical skillset, root cause analysis skills, capable of generating good Design of Experiment for system development and technical studies.
- Candidates who demonstrate strong ownership and proactive traits will have added advantages.
- Well organized and detail-oriented in experimental reporting, consistently demonstrates reliability and responsibility.
- Soft skill expectation - able to communicate with all levels of people comfortably, proactiveness, perseverance and possess an open innovation mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Experience:
- Preferably a minimum of 3 years experience in R&D inventing, developing and implementing new products, preferably in the personal care industry.
- Proven track records in fast-pace FMCG working environment.
- Hands-on experience in formulation development and project management.
- Knowledgeable in ISO9001, NPRA regulation and other relevant industry standards.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
