About the Role

This position is responsible to work on insurance products under the Digital Platform Partnerships within AIA Malaysia. The core functions including product strategy, actuarial pricing, and end-to-end product development works such as designing, developing and managing products. This role is expected to present or co-create product propositions with digital platform partners, as well as communicate product technical rules for implementation preparations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design insurance products as aligned with the customer proposition for different digital platforms and partners. This includes presenting and co-creating the product concepts and propositions with business partners, in collaboration with Partnership Lead.

  • Perform pricing and re-pricing for the insurance/takaful products, including prepare necessary documents for submission to Bank Negara Malaysia, Product Development Committee, Group Office, etc.

  • As part of the product development, communicate with other project members and vendors in term of product and premium structure, underwriting rules and rate changes and ensure the rules are accurately built for implementation.

  • Responsible on the end-to-end new product development from technical product development through to system implementation, including the necessary approval processes. Work closely with the Program Management Lead who is managing the implementation works.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Partnership Leads, and manage enhancements and other changes to insurance products in conjunction with up-sell / cross-sell promotions and sales campaigns.

  • Ensure ongoing engagement with other team leads, especially Marketing, Partnership and Operations, to capture feedback and understand challenges and opportunities to drive improvements.

  • Support on all product-related matters, e.g. product roll out, training, product collaterals, etc.

  • Ensure active management of in-force products across various partners on digital platform partnerships, ensuring viability and continue meet company's direction, as well as in search of new opportunities to further improve.

  • Conduct product and portfolio management, including collaborate with data analytics team in looking into customers insights that bringing meaningful values to marketing for upsell/cross-sell activities, as well as looking into profitable segments to ensure loss ratio are within budget. Propose and amend benefits and pricing accordingly to optimize results. Based on data analytics conducted, to provide insightful commentary in supporting business decision making processes.

  • Set up proper procedures, internal policies, SOP, etc, in related to product and pricing functions for digital platform partnerships, to continue improve current ways of workings.

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree holder, preferably in Actuarial Science.

  • At least 6 years working experience in the insurance industry, must have some hands-on working experience in Actuarial Pricing and indirectly in Product Development functions. Candidates who have hands-on experience on both Product and Pricing areas will be prioritized.

  • Deep understanding of local insurance regulatory environment, especially general insurance products and personal lines.

  • Entrepreneurial DNA: Ability to own, lead and setup work flows and functions for the products being developed and managed.

  • Analytically savvy: uses data to find tangible values for product strategy and business decisions.

  • Customer centric mindset: passionate to build innovative insurance solutions for consumers with seamless digital customer journey.

  • Confident, proactive and good communication skill.

  • Able to demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm and flexibility to handle multiple concurrent priorities.

  • Extremely motivated to continue learning and growing both within and beyond own core functions.

  • Results oriented, and able to challenge status quo on certain traditional ways of getting things done.

  • Ability to build relationships in an international environment with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders at different levels of the organization.

  • Exposure to start-up environment or consultancy experience within or outside Malaysia will be added advantage.
