Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Production Assistant Manager / Manager to oversee day-to-day production operations in our electronic manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing manpower, maintaining production targets, ensuring quality, coordinating with Maintenance and Warehouse teams, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. This is a shopfloor-focused role where leadership, discipline, and practical production knowledge are key.
Key Responsibilities
Manpower & Discipline Management
- Lead, supervise, and manage a team of 25 production staff
- Allocate manpower, assign daily tasks, and manage overtime to meet production targets
- Ensure discipline, attendance, and proper workflow on the production floor
- Train, upskill, and mentor operators to maintain performance standards
Production & Operational Management
- Monitor daily production output to ensure targets and quality standards are met
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Sales & Planning, and Maintenance to ensure timely delivery
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize workflow and efficiency
- Oversee workforce allocation, task assignment, and production schedules
Technical & Quality Oversight
- Understand production processes and machine functions well enough to make practical decisions
- Work with Maintenance on preventive maintenance schedules and minimize machine downtime
- Participate in root cause analysis (FMEA) and corrective actions for production issues
- Ensure quality standards are maintained and production defects are addressed promptly
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare daily, monthly, and annual production reports
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance customer satisfaction
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably in electronic manufacturing
- Proven experience managing shopfloor teams (ideally 20+ staff)
- Strong leadership, discipline, and people management skills
- Hands-on approach with practical understanding of production processes and basic machine functions
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
