JOB PURPOSE

To lead, manage, and continuously improve all production operations to achieve organizational goals relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, and People Development. The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient utilization of resources, maintaining product quality, driving operational excellence, supporting business growth, and ensuring compliance with applicable management systems and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Tool & Die Engineering, Metal Stamping Technology, Production Management, or other related disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum eight (8) years of working experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in metal stamping, tooling, machining, assembly, or related manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing production operations, manpower, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Knowledge & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, people management, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, capacity planning, and resource management.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S/6S, TPM, OEE, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) practices and requirements.

AUTHORITIES

The Production Manager is authorized to:

  1. Enforce shop floor discipline, company policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  2. Implement and sustain 5S/6S workplace organization and housekeeping standards.
  3. Allocate manpower, equipment, and resources to achieve production requirements.
  4. Stop production activities when safety, quality, or regulatory compliance requirements are compromised.
  5. Recommend recruitment, promotion, training, disciplinary action, and performance evaluation of production personnel.
  6. Initiate and implement productivity improvement, cost reduction, and operational excellence programs.
  7. Coordinate and implement corrective and preventive actions related to production operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Operations Management

  1. Lead and manage all daily production activities to achieve production targets, customer delivery requirements, and operational objectives.
  2. Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and production resources.
  3. Monitor and improve production performance, productivity, efficiency, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  4. Ensure production schedules are executed effectively, and customer delivery commitments are met.

Quality Management

  1. Ensure all products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  2. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues, production defects, and customer complaints.
  3. Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and other departments to continuously improve product and process quality.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, efficiency, and operational performance.
  2. Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S/6S, waste elimination, and cost optimization programs.
  3. Establish, maintain, and improve standardized manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions.

Safety, Environment & Facility Management

  1. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, company policies, and statutory regulations.
  2. Promote a strong safety culture and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  3. Continuously improve shop floor layout, material flow, workplace organization, and safety performance.
  4. Ensure production equipment, machinery, tools, and facilities are maintained in good working condition.

Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination

  1. Coordinate closely with Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  2. Support capacity planning, resource planning, and production scheduling activities.
  3. Ensure material availability and production readiness to meet customer requirements.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  1. Lead or support New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfer, and production ramp-up activities.
  2. Ensure manufacturing readiness, process validation, risk assessment, and successful product launch.

Cost & Performance Management

  1. Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
  2. Monitor, analyse, and improve departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  3. Prepare and present production performance reports to Management.

Quality Management System (QMS)

  1. Ensure the integrity, effectiveness, and continual improvement of the departmental Quality Management System.
  2. Ensure all production-related procedures, records, and documentation are properly maintained and controlled.
  3. Support internal audits, external audits, customer audits, and certification audits as required.

Leadership & People Development

  1. Lead, coach, motivate, and develop production personnel to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
  2. Identify training needs and support competency development programs for production employees.
  3. Foster teamwork, accountability, employee engagement, and a continuous improvement culture within the department.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform any other duties, responsibilities, projects, or assignments as assigned by Management from time to time in support of operational, departmental, and organizational objectives.
  2. Provide support to cross-functional teams and participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
  3. Comply with all company policies, procedures, quality standards, environmental requirements, and occupational health and safety requirements in the execution of assigned duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position may require the incumbent to be physically present at the designated work location, manufacturing facility, office, or operational site, as necessary to effectively perform job responsibilities and support business operations.
  • The incumbent is expected to collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including cross-functional teams, to ensure effective communication, coordination, and execution of business objectives.
  • The position may require extended working hours, weekend work, or emergency support when necessary to meet operational requirements.
