The Rendering Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the rendering processes, ensuring efficient and compliant rendering operations to convert poultry waste into valuable products such as animal feed ingredients, fats and proteins. The primarily focus of the job incumbent is to optimize production efficiency, maintaining the plant operational efficiency and equipment effectiveness, meeting the quality and safety standards, and ensuring environmental compliance.
Responsibilities:
1. Rendering Operations Management
- Manager daily rendering processes, ensuring optimal recovery of proteins, fats, and meal products.
- Monitor raw material intake, ensuring proper handling, storage, and processing to prevent contamination.
- Optimize equipment performance and troubleshooting operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with the engineering & maintenance teams to ensure regular servicing and preventive maintenance of rendering equipment.
2. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet the industry standards, regulatory requirements and customers requirements.
- Implement hygiene and sanitation practices to prevent microbial growth and cross-contamination.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste disposal, emissions, and water treatment.
3. Leadership & Training
- Lead, train and manage rendering production team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Conduct regular coaching and guidance to enhance workforce competency.
4. Continuous Improvement & Waste Reduction
- Promote continuous improvement practices and workplace safety.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements to reduce waste and maximize product yield.
- Develop and apply best practices for energy and resources conservation in rendering operations.
- Work on sustainability initiatives, such as odor control, waste recycling, and by-product optimization.
5. Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure compliance with DOE and DOSH,
- Monitor emissions and waste discharge, ensuring adherence to regulatory.
6. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
- Manage the supply and storage of raw poultry by-products.
- Work closely with the PLD (Preliminary Department) and PPD (Primary Processing Department) to coordinate logistics for raw material and ensure timely delivery to customers.
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare reports on production efficiency, yield and losses.
- Maintain accurate records related to batch processing, downtime equipment, equipment maintenance, and compliance checks.
- Assist in audits and regulatory inspections by providing necessary documentation and records.
Requirements & Experience
The successful candidate should possess strong technical, operational, and leadership capabilities gained within the rendering, poultry processing, food manufacturing, or related industrial sectors.
Key requirements include:
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing rendering, processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations with accountability for production performance, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Strong engineering and technical knowledge with the ability to evaluate plant equipment, identify improvement opportunities, and develop recommendations for machinery upgrades and capital expenditure projects.
- Experience in managing plant reliability initiatives, preventive maintenance programs, and operational improvement projects aimed at reducing equipment downtime and increasing production output.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse equipment performance, investigate recurring operational issues, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Sound understanding of production cost management, yield optimisation, waste reduction, and resource utilisation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements relating to environmental compliance, including DOE, DOSH, wastewater management, emissions control, and waste handling.
- Experience liaising with government authorities, regulatory agencies, contractors, equipment suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead, develop, and drive performance across production teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and project management capabilities within a manufacturing environment.
