Professor - Biomedical and Clinical Science

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

• Undertake teaching and teaching related duties such as design, preparation and development of teaching materials conduct classes/lectures, tutorials and practicals consultation with students, invigilation, marking and assessment
• Participate and contribute in high quality programme and curriculum development
• Plan and implement teaching strategies to optimise student learning as well as to motivate themSupport in research project work and scholarship of postgraduate students
• Establish and maintain high standards of teaching and effective learning to meet the University's teaching and learning expectations

Research

• Participate in scholarly activities, including undertaking research, conference presentation, journal publications
• Support efforts to secure grants for research activities and scholarship as a main researcher or co-researcher
• Achieve the specified set of research outcome targets for Professor level of appointment

Administration and Other Activities

• Undertake and actively contribute in administrative responsibilities such as attending departmental meetings, participate in committees and working groups within the School and Faculty
• Participate in continuous relevant professional activities as and when required
• Assist in establishing linkages with external organisations/ professional bodies in academic related matters

REQUIREMENTS

• Possess aPhDfrom a recognised university in Biomedical Science, Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacology, Medical Sciences, or other closely related fields.
• Possess strong academic and professional standing in Biomedical Science, Clinical Pharmacology, Translational Medicine, Drug Discovery, Therapeutics, Molecular Medicine, Clinical Research, or related disciplines.
• Candidate must have at least eight (8) years of experience in teaching / industry
• Possess a strong publication record with at least 10 publications in C.I. journals (ISI, SCOPUS) in the last 5 years
• Publications should be mainly in Biomedical Science, Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacology, Medical Sciences, Translational Medicine, Drug Discovery, Therapeutics, Molecular Medicine, or related fields.
• Secured research grant(s) as a Principal Investigator worth at least RM300,000 (cumulative)
• Preference will be given to candidates who have secured national or international research grants.
• Demonstrate evidence of sustained research funding and the ability to lead funded research projects.
• Graduated at least 3 PhD students
• Minimum Scopus h-index of16
• Demonstrate evidence of citation impact and research influence within Biomedical Science, Clinical Pharmacology, or related disciplines.
• Experience working with industry partners, hospitals, clinical laboratories, healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, or clinical research organisations is preferred.
• Demonstrate evidence of industry, clinical, or healthcare-related collaboration in Biomedical Science, Clinical Pharmacology, Translational Medicine, Drug Discovery, Therapeutics, or related fields.
• Experience in conducting translational research, clinical research, consultancy, contract research, product development, validation studies, or industry-linked research projects will be an added advantage.
• Ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, clinical, or healthcare stakeholders to support research, teaching, postgraduate supervision, student exposure, and external engagement is preferred.
• Evidence of outputs from industry or clinical engagement, such as collaborative grants, consultancy projects, patents, clinical protocols, translational outcomes, professional training, or service-based research, will be an added advantage.
• Experience working in higher education environment and a track record of teaching experience and professional knowledge of curriculum development or good record ofprofessional experience with evidence of coaching and mentoring and a high quality of presentation skills.
• Experience in developing teaching methodologies and materials, including the effective use of IT technologies in the facilitation of teaching and learning
• Experience working on research projects and activities or experience of professional practice/consultancy work, including evidence of appropriate output
