Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- To develop and implement new methods of teaching to reflect changes in research;
- To design, prepare and develop teaching materials;
- To deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials;
- To assess students coursework and assignments;
- To set and mark examinations;
- To invigilate examinations
- To coordinate modules
- To support students through a pastoral/advisory role;
- To undertake personal research projects and actively contributing to the institution's research profile;
- To write up research and preparing it for publication;
- To supervise students research activities;
- To undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and participating in staff training activities;
- To participate in the school's curriculum planning and development processes, academic committees, and relevant examination processes
- To undertake administrative tasks related to the department, such as student admissions, act as module coordinator, semester coordinator, induction programmes and involvement in committees and boards, university projects;
- To manage and supervise staff - at a senior level this may include the role of head of department;
- To represent the IMU at professional conferences and seminars, and contributing to these as necessary;
- To establish collaborative links outside the university with industrial, commercial and public organisations.
- To actively engage in research in line with the school's research strategy, maintain a substantial active publications record and supervise and mentor early career researcher.
- To foster research excellence through procuring competitive research grants and working with other staff to develop research links
- To take a leadershiprole in the school's research strength, where appropriate
- To develop and maintain strong links with the community
- To maintain links and make significant contribution to the profession and external agencies both nationally and internationally
- Any other duties as assignedby the Dean or Management
Qualifications & Skills
- A master's degree in a related field required; earned doctorate preferred and a record of teaching excellence, service, and scholarship commensurate with that of a tenured professor.
- Actively involved in teaching activities and produced innovations in curriculum development and delivery.
- Lead research projects and have at least 20 publications in indexed journals.
- Assumed leadership positions in academic administration, university activities and is recognized by the peers as an authority in the profession.
- Have experience in teaching and learning, including experience in the development and administration of curriculum, and the use of technology in higher education.
