The Project Engineer (Civil & Construction) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction and infrastructure projects to ensure successful completion within approved timelines, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role involves project coordination, site supervision, technical support, stakeholder management, and compliance with engineering and construction standards. The Project Engineer will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure efficient project execution. The role will be based in Penang, Malaysia.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
2. Conduct site inspections, site supervision, and progress monitoring to ensure works are carried out according to approved specifications, drawings, quality requirements, and safety standards.
3. Coordinate and attend project meetings, site meetings, toolbox meetings, and discussions with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and authorities.
4. Review, interpret, and prepare engineering drawings, construction drawings, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
5. Prepare and update project schedules, work progress reports, and project documentation.
6. Provide technical support and engineering solutions to resolve site-related issues and construction challenges.
7. Perform engineering calculations, design reviews, and technical assessments where required.
8. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery of materials and services.
9. Monitor project risks and recommend corrective actions to prevent delays, cost overruns, and quality deficiencies.
10. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, construction regulations, company policies, and safety standards at all project sites.
11. Carry out quality assurance and quality control inspections to ensure project deliverables meet required standards.
12. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
13. Assist in project handover, defect rectification, and project close-out activities.
14. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management from time to time.
Job requirements:
1. A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
2. Project management experience is highly recommended.
3. Relevant licensees and certifications.
4. Several years of experience working in the engineering field.
5. Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
7. Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
8. Mandarin proficiency (written and spoken) is required to effectively communicate and coordinate with Mandarin-speaking clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
9. Ability to prepare project correspondence, reports, and technical documentation in English
