Project Engineer – High Voltage (HV)

Role Overview
The Project Engineer will support the successful execution of High Voltage (HV) grid and power infrastructure projects, working closely with the Project Manager and cross‑functional stakeholders. Projects include GIS and transformer modernization, upgrades, and extensions, supporting multiple grid projects, including data centre‑related developments.
This is an office‑based role in Kuala Lumpur with site interface as required, supporting a portfolio of ongoing and upcoming power grid projects across Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all phases of project execution from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery in line with safety, budget, quality, and schedule requirements
- Act as 1st and 2nd level point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating with internal teams, external vendors, subcontractors, and global technical stakeholders
- Review and understand project contracts, specifications, scope of work, budgets, and allowances prior to commencement
- Support site teams and Field Service personnel during execution, installation, and commissioning activities
- Interface with global engineering and factory teams to resolve technical issues during project execution and site activities
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to Project Management and relevant stakeholders
- Support contract change management, invoicing, and final project close‑out activities
- Contribute to bid and proposal preparation, including technical inputs and documentation support where required
- Maintain professional stakeholder management to support customer satisfaction and business success
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- High Voltage (HV) experience is mandatory
- Minimum 4–6 years experience in an engineering, site, or project execution role within HV transmission, substations, GIS, or power grid projects
- Experience coordinating vendors, subcontractors, or site execution teams
- Good understanding of project execution processes and basic contract principles
- Willingness to travel within Malaysia when required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
- Able to communicate professionally in English (written and spoken)
Preferred / Added Advantage
- Hands‑on exposure to GIS, transformers, HV substations, or transmission systems
- Experience supporting data centre power infrastructure projects
- OEM or EPC project environment experience
- Prior involvement in proposal or bid support activities
Contract & Employment Details
- Contract duration: Minimum 1 year (Extendable annually, with potential conversion to permanent role)
- Working hours: 40 hours per week
- Saturday work by demand (paid OT)
- Sunday / Public Holiday work compensated with replacement leave
- Annual Leave: 18 days
- Expenses: Reimbursable on actuals
