Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering Coordination
- Coordinate detailed design for interconnection facilities including:
- TNB substation interface (PE switching station / main intake) o HV/MV switchgear, transformers, protection & control systems o Transmission line / underground cable routing
- Review and verify engineering drawings, single line diagrams (SLD), and protection schemes.
- Ensure compliance with: o TNB Grid Code / Distribution Code o Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements o Relevant IEC / MS standards
2. Authority & Utility Liaison
- Act as focal person with:
- Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)
- Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) o SEDA (if applicable)
- Manage submissions, approvals, and technical clarifications:
- Interconnection application & approvals
- Protection coordination studies
- Energization approvals (BORANG G, H, etc.)
- Attend technical meetings with authorities and stakeholders.
3. Project Execution & Site Management
- Oversee site execution for interconnection scope:
- Substation construction
- Cable laying (HV/MV) o Transmission line works
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor progress against schedule (especially grid compliance milestones).
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC requirements and HSE standards.
4. Testing & Commissioning
- Plan and coordinate testing & commissioning (T&C):
- Pre-commissioning checks
- Relay testing, SCADA integration
- Grid compliance tests (e.g., protection, synchronization)
- Liaise with TNB for:
- Witness testing
- Grid compliance verification
- Final energization
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and manage:
- Method statements, work procedures
- Daily/weekly/monthly progress reports
- As-built drawings and handover documentation
- Track and report key risks related to interconnection works.
6. Risk & Stakeholder Management
- Identify potential delays (e.g., authority approvals, technical issues).
- Propose mitigation strategies to ensure timely COD.
- Support commercial team on variation orders related to interconnection scope.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years in Project Engineer/ Electrical Engineering Role (Construction/RE)
- Experience in basic all round engineering, construction, and project management
- Knowledge of renewable energy, solar PV systems and HV System is added into advantage
- Strong communication, active and good attitude (proactive)
- Strong project management skills, resources management and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in writing, report preparation, and project paper works.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and project ownership
- Ability to collaborate with technical teams and other stakeholders
- Previous experience in at least construction field
- Understand and experience in entire project lifecycle
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Project Management, Construction, or a related field
