Job Description

For a multi-country SAP S/4HANA 2020 rollout (covering 9 Asia Pacific countries) built on a Global Template already deployed in the US and UK/Ireland, the Solution Architect (SA) acts as the strategic and technical design authority across domains ensuring architectural consistency, localization compliance, and data integrity while orchestrating deployment excellence.

This program involves S/4HANA Central Finance, Record to Report (R2R), Source to Pay (S2P), and ARIBA Indirect Procurement, requiring a cross-functional, data-driven, and risk-controlled deployment model.

The Solution Architect ensures that:

  • The Asia Pacific solution aligns with the global design principles while meeting local legal and statutory requirements.
  • Data, integration, and process designs are holistically governed across countries.
  • Deployments are orchestrated seamlessly through well-controlled test cycles, data migration, and cutover phases.
  • The solution remains scalable, auditable, and extensible for future global rollouts.

1. Solution Design & Integrity

  • Own the end-to-end solution blueprint, ensuring it conforms to the global template and S/4HANA best practices.
  • Safeguard architecture principles modularity, standardization, reusability, and minimal customization.
  • Govern the functional integration across R2R, S2P, CFIN, and ARIBA to preserve process continuity.

2. Data Management & Data Governance

  • Lead Data Architecture Strategy for the rollout defining data domains, ownership, and governance models.
  • Oversee master data design (MDG, business partners, materials, vendors, cost centers, etc.) ensuring harmonization across entities.
  • Govern data quality assurance enforce profiling, cleansing, and validation checkpoints.
  • Ensure data readiness is tracked via KPIs and integrated into deployment readiness reviews.
  • Define data cutover sequencing ensuring master and transactional data loads are aligned with business cutover strategy.

3. Test Management Alignment

  • Collaborate with Test Manager and Process Leads to ensure test strategy and scope reflect end-to-end integration scenarios.
  • Validate that all key integration and country-specific processes are covered in System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Drive performance, regression, and cutover mock testing to validate solution stability and transition readiness.
  • Ensure testing aligns with the global regression framework.

4. Cutover Management & Transition Readiness

  • Define cutover dependency maps across systems (S/4HANA, ARIBA, legacy ERPs, middleware).
  • Validate mock cutovers, ensuring data migration, configuration transport, and business readiness activities are executable within planned downtime.
  • Review and approve cutover runbooks, ensuring clear checkpoints, fallback plans, and technical validation steps.
  • Ensure all post-cutover validations (reconciliation, interface reactivation, system health checks) are architecturally sound.
  • Provide go/no-go recommendations from a solution integrity and risk perspective.

5. Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain architecture decision logs, ensuring traceability and auditability.
  • Enforce template governance, promoting reuse of design and configuration elements.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and readiness assessments at each stage.

6. Localization & Compliance

  • Oversee localization of tax, statutory reporting, and regulatory integrations
  • Ensure legal reporting frameworks (e.g., SAF-T, VAT returns, audit files) are embedded correctly in the solution.
  • Coordinate with local finance teams and external advisors for statutory validations.

7. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as the bridge between global design, local rollout teams, and executive governance boards.
  • Communicate solution status, risks, dependencies, and readiness assessments to program leadership.
