Job Description

Position Summary:

The job purpose of a cement plant project manager is to oversee and manage the entire project lifecycle of establishing or expanding a cement manufacturing facility. Their primary objective is to lead the project team, ensure successful project execution, and deliver the cement plant on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Taking charge of the Department affairs and ensuring projects are implemented and handed over successfully on time.
  • To establish communication channels between higher management and engineering technical executives.
  • Responsible for preparing & compile CER (Capex Expenditure Request) documents for management's approval;
  • To enforce factory safety precautions to meet all project assignments legislative requirements and safety rules and regulations.
  • To encourage employees participation in quality and productivity improvement efforts such as 5S, KAIZEN & Safety Awareness Programme;
  • To lead the investigation and report on the conditions of machinery before and after each major improvement project and recommend improvement works to improve the availability of the plant, machinery, and equipment.
  • Responsible and compile cost estimation, project checklist, and actual project tracking against planned status.
  • To update the higher management on the status of the project through a standard reporting format;
  • To lead the project staff to achieve the project implementation schedule
  • To carry out any other duties as directed by the Company Management.

Managerial (Team/Group Responsibilities):

  • Resource Management: Managing resources efficiently is essential to control production costs. The production manager must optimize the use of raw materials, energy, and manpower to maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Team Management: The production manager leads and supervises a team of operators, technicians, and other personnel. They are responsible for training, performance evaluation, and fostering a positive work culture.
  • To attend daily production meetings to assist the operational team in implementing plant improvement projects.
  • Recruit the right team members to ensure the skill set of the team members can address the departmental needs.
  • Coach and train team members on existing and new concepts, technology, and functionality to pave their way towards the achievement of the functional objectives of the team, thus playing a role in the enhancement of the technical skill set of an individual and improving the growth of an individual towards a positive attitude.
  • Monitor the performance of all team members to identify the difference between the expected level of productivity and actual productivity.

Requirements:

Solid experience in the integrated cement plant industry.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering) or a related field. A Master's degree in project management or construction management may be preferred for more significant projects.

Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects, preferably within the cement industry.

Previous experience in project management or project leadership roles is often required.

Project Management Skills:

Strong project management skills, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

Ability to create comprehensive project plans, set achievable milestones, and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Knowledge:

Familiarity with cement plant construction processes and equipment installation.

  • Understanding of cement production technologies and engineering principles related to cement manufacturing.
