Job Description

Position Summary

The Project Manager leads projects from feasibility and pre-study through to completion, driving improvements in mechanical systems with a focus on production lines and related equipment, particularly in mechanical and pneumatics. This role collaborates closely with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturing teams to achieve project objectives, while managing timelines, installation activities, and budgets. The Project Manager is also responsible for identifying and implementing improvements in product quality, processes, cost efficiency, and machine performance.

Working Location: Vinda SEA HQ (Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, next to Setia Alam)

You will play an important role to:

1. Manage the CAPEX budget process for the assigned projects

  • To initiate preliminary studies to identify the feasibility of the proposed Capex after meeting with customer attending the request.
  • To analyze possible different options and ways to minimize the cost once the preliminary studies proven to be implementable.
  • Project KPI's and Scope definition.
  • Vendor selection, negotiation of better payment terms and contract options for the company.
  • Define the CAPEX, the CFO, and the timeline by defining the task, expenses to be incur and requesting the relevant quotes.
  • To work closely with Technology-Area-Engineer on global projects or initiatives.
  • To source the local vendors for good support, low cost, and short lead-time.

2. Project Management

  • Control and tracking of assigned projects, to match or below the budget. Tracking the cash flow, understanding the reason of any deviation, reporting the actual status, and suggesting alternatives to correct the deviations.
  • Control and tracking of the assigned project to match the timeline required.
  • Define the project team (Vinda and External Resources such as suppliers, vendors, machine makers, etc.)
  • Lead the project team.
  • Identifying and managing the risks.
  • Assures the project work meets pre-established expectations in terms of safety, priority, timeline, cash flow, total cost, and final product. Be sure the contractors understand, accept, and accomplish the company policies.

3. Technical support and assistance

  • To provide technical support (mechanical and pneumatic) to Vinda associates who have requested prior approval from Technology HOD.
  • To coordinate and channel the requested support to the right person in technical department if the requested is not under his/her area of expertise.
  • To counter-propose and suggest to customers the best technologies to be applied in the cases if his/her knowledge do not meet the expectation.
  • To work closely with manufacturing team to monitor the completed and handover project results. Appropriate action needs to be taken if it does not meet the goals and expectation.
  • To keep updated monthly report to the Technology HOD about YTD, cash flow out and status of each project managed by him/her.
  • To develop and provide necessary training plans for his/her staff to improve the level of skills in his team and for his subordinates.
  • To follow up and help with his/her subordinates when they are leading small projects or others projectsdue to tight schedules.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Degree or Master's in preferably in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics (including pneumatics).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, with basic data analysis and project management skills.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical systems, automation, and machining processes.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; able to work independently.
