Job Purpose
The Project Controls Planner is responsible for developing, managing, and controlling project schedules using Primavera P6 to ensure the successful and timely delivery of Substation Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects. This role supports Project Managers and commercial teams by providing accurate planning, progress tracking, forecasting, and schedule impact analysis across all phases of substation construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, update, and maintain integrated project schedules for substation projects using Primavera P6.
- Establish baseline, recovery, and revised programmes in line with contract requirements.
- Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), activity logic, and key project milestones.
- Integrate civil, electrical, protection, testing & commissioning, and outage schedules into a master programme.
2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor and measure actual progress versus baseline and target schedules.
- Conduct critical path, float, and delay analysis.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project control reports for management and clients.
- Provide reliable completion forecasts for energisation, commissioning, and handover milestones.
3. Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Construction Teams, and subcontractors to collect accurate progress data.
- Identify schedule risks, interface clashes, and potential delays and propose recovery actions.
- Support progress meetings, planning workshops, and project review sessions.
4. Change, Claims & Risk Management
- Assess the schedule impact of variations, scope changes, and delays.
- Maintain programme change records, delay logs, and supporting planning documentation.
- Support Extension of Time (EOT), claims, and contractual schedule submissions when required.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling for construction or engineering projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in Primavera P6 is mandatory.
- Experience in Substation T&D, utilities, or infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM), project life cycle, and resource-loaded schedules.
- Strong analytical, coordination, and reporting skills.
