My client is a reputable general insurance company offering a wide range of insurance products and solutions worldwide. They are currently looking for an experienced Property UnderwritingManager, SME to join their dynamic team as they expand in Malaysia.
Job responsibilities:
- Independently underwrite the SME portfolio, focusing on commercial lines including Fire, All Risks, Burglary, Fidelity Guarantee, and other Miscellaneous classes
- Engage directly with intermediaries to negotiate policy terms, gather market feedback and intelligence
- Collaborate closely with actuaries, claims professionals, and cross-functional teams to ensure portfolio strategy is fully aligned with overall organizational objectives
- Proactively identify and pursue cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing accounts, while driving new business growth
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field
- At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in underwriting within the insurance industry, with a focus on commercial insurance
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing underwriting teams and developing underwriting strategies
- Proficiency in underwriting principles and practices related to commercial insurance products
- Certification from a recognized insurance professional body (e.g., ANZIIF, CII) would be a plus
