About The Team

The Public Relations and Corporate Communications team at SPX Express (Malaysia) is responsible for managing the brand's external reputation and internal messaging across key stakeholders, including media, partners, employees and authorities. Working closely with regional and cross-functional teams, we ensure alignment in messaging, proactive storytelling, and effective risk mitigation.

We are looking for a Public Relations and Corporate Communications Specialist with experience in the logistics sector to safeguard our brand reputation and ensure transparent communication during critical situations. This role is crucial in managing incidents such as regulatory issues, and operational emergencies. The ideal candidate will combine strong crisis management skills with deep industry knowledge to maintain trust among customers, partners, and stakeholders and ability to manage high-pressure situations while aligning all communications with overall business objectives.

Job Description

  • Develop and execute crisis communication strategies for critical incidents by providing timely and strategic responses to protect the brand's reputation.
  • Develop and train internal teams on crisis communication protocols and media handling during incidents.
  • Lead the creation of high-quality communications materials, including press releases, official statements, media responses, key message documents, speeches and executive talking points.
  • Serve as the quality gatekeeper for high-risk internal and external communications, ensuring message clarity, tone, and alignment with brand values across teams.
  • Monitor media coverage, social media, public sentiment, and industry trends to identify potential risks and provide real-time updates to the management through periodic reporting and analysis.
  • Assist in planning, executing and coordinating events, including press conferences, media briefings, and community initiatives including managing stakeholders such as media representatives, participants and partners as required.
  • Track, report and analyse performance post events/initiatives/critical incidents including recommending actionable insights to refine future execution and to identify internal procedural improvements.
  • Build and manage relationships with media, industry associations and regulatory bodies to strengthen brand credibility and build strategic partnerships

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, crisis communications or similar roles.
  • Strong verbal communication skills; confident in handling media inquiries and speaking engagements.
  • Comfortable using monitoring tools, dashboards, or analytics reports to guide decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Flexible and adaptable to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
