Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Kuala Lumpur for a Pupil in chambers at Jeeva Partnership. The pupil will assist in legal research, drafting pleadings, opinions, and correspondence, and preparing court documents and bundles. Daily tasks include attending court hearings and client meetings with supervising lawyers, taking detailed notes, and supporting case strategy discussions. The role also involves reviewing contracts and documents, summarizing case law, and helping to prepare for arbitration and mediation sessions. The pupil will collaborate closely with partners and associates, adhere to professional and ethical standards, and participate in training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities to build strong litigation and advisory skills.
Qualifications

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and legal principles accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in legal drafting and written communication, including pleadings, submissions, opinions, and client correspondence in clear, concise language.
  • Effective oral communication and advocacy potential, with confidence to engage in discussions, client interactions, and court or tribunal proceedings under supervision.
  • Organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple matters, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate files and documentation.
  • High level of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality, with a strong commitment to client service and teamwork.
  • LL.B or equivalent legal qualification from a recognized institution; eligibility and intention to complete pupillage in Malaysia.
  • Demonstrated interest in litigation, dispute resolution, and at least one of the firm's core practice areas (e.g., employment, IP, company law, real estate).
  • Proficiency in English, with additional language skills (including Bahasa Malaysia or other languages) considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work on-site in Kuala Lumpur, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and respond constructively to feedback and mentoring.
