PUPILLAGE
Messrs FUZET is a boutique Malaysian law firm with a practice focused on Maritime, Aviation, Rail, Oil & Gas, Transportation and Commercial Litigation.
We are looking for a committed, motivated and enthusiastic Pupil to undertake their Pupillage with the Firm and develop strong practical legal skills in a professional and hands-on environment.
The Role
As a Pupil, you will work closely with our lawyers and gain hands-on exposure to a broad range of legal matters, including:
- Conducting legal research and assisting with analysis of legislation, case law and other legal authorities.
- Assisting in the preparation and drafting of pleadings, affidavits, submissions, legal correspondence, opinions and other legal documents.
- Assisting with commercial litigation, advisory matters and legal drafting, including preparation for hearings, trials, case managements and other court proceedings.
- Attending court proceedings, client meetings, conferences and other legal appointments where appropriate.
- Assisting in matters involving maritime, aviation, rail, oil & gas, transportation and commercial litigation.
- Reviewing and analysing contracts, legal documents and correspondence.
- Assisting with the preparation of bundles, chronologies, authorities and other documents for litigation.
- Assisting our lawyers with the day-to-day conduct and management of matters.
- Undertaking other legal and administrative tasks as required during the course of the Pupillage.
Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree OR a Bachelor of Arts from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge in the Law Tripos OR equivalent and be a qualified person under the Legal Profession Act 1976, and eligible to commence Pupillage in Malaysia.
- Strong interest in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Good legal research, analytical and drafting skills.
- Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and well-organised work.
- Responsible, committed and able to manage deadlines.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative and work as part of a small professional team.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Prior legal internship or relevant legal experience will be an advantage.
- Ability to commence Pupillage immediately or at short notice will be an advantage.
