1.0 PURPOSE
The Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing quality assurance processes and standards to ensure that all products meet regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements. This role focuses on monitoring production activities, conducting inspections and audits, and coordinating with operations, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrences. The Quality Assurance Officer applies strong analytical skills and quality management tools to interpret data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions while ensuring full compliance with operational, safety, and quality standards.
2.0 REPORTING
- The Quality Officer reports to Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating all quality-related processes
- Quality Control system and control of procedure and work instructions.
- Registration and maintenance of the non-conforming report system (NCR system).
- Have a close and critical but cooperative relationship with Operations.
- Supporting the QSM according to ISO9001 and FSC standard.
- Drive and stimulate continuous improvement processes.
4.0 MAIN TASKS
A. Product Testing & Validation
- Conduct product performance testing for new product development (NPD).
- Perform product validation during trial runs on converters.
- Analyze testing results against specifications and internal standards.
- Prepare trial reports and validation documentation.
- Identify non-conformance during product trials and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance Engineering, and Product Manager during new product introduction.
- Establish and maintain product testing standards.
B. Process Quality Control
- Review incoming and in-process inspection reports.
- Handle customer complaint investigation and reporting.
- Monitor defect trends and analyze quality performance data.
- Initiate and maintain Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system.
- Provide quality training.
C. Reporting & Documentation
- Monitor corrective action effectiveness.
- Record and track non-conformance cases.
- Maintain document control and record retention system.
- Monitor compliance with FSC Chain of Custody requirements.
- Maintain FSC documentation and records.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Maintain product validation database
- To carry out other duties or tasks assigned by superior from time to time.
5.0 PROFILE
- Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Minimum 23 years experience in manufacturing quality environment.
- Experience in paper packaging industry preferred.
- Preferably knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Basic statistical analysis.
- Testing and measurement techniques.
- Microsoft Excel (data analysis).
- Hands on attitude.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to work cross-functionally.
- Able to perform OT when needed.
