Job Summary
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Powertrain products meet established quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. The role oversees incoming, in-process, and final product inspections, investigates quality issues, supports supplier and customer quality management, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
1. Product Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products comply with engineering specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform engine testing, audits, and verification activities to confirm product quality and corrective actions effectiveness.
- Monitor inspection results, maintain quality records, and ensure timely updates of quality documentation and systems.
- Coordinate rework activities and verify corrective actions are completed according to quality requirements.
2. Quality Assurance & Problem Solving
- Identify, investigate, and report product defects, non-conformities, and quality concerns.
- Perform root cause analysis and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Conduct quality trend analysis and recommend improvement actions to reduce defects and improve process capability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing performance.
3. Supplier Quality Management
- Perform incoming material inspections and evaluate supplier quality performance.
- Investigate supplier-related quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier quality metrics and support supplier quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure supplier compliance with company and automotive quality standards.
4. Customer Quality Support
- Investigate customer complaints and field quality issues related to engine products.
- Coordinate with internal teams to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support customer satisfaction improvement initiatives through timely issue resolution and quality enhancement activities.
- Provide technical support for quality-related investigations when required.
5. Compliance & Quality Systems
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures, automotive industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal audits, process audits, and quality system improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, inspection records, and reporting systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Manufacturing Quality within the automotive, engine, or powertrain industry.
- Experience in engine quality analysis, manufacturing quality control, or automotive aftersales quality investigation will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Good command of English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
- Possess a valid driving license.
