What We're Looking For
As a Quality Engineer Advanced, you will serve as a key technical expert driving JDM, EMS, ODM, and component supplier management. This high-impact individual contributor role requires a strong background in electronic component manufacturing, process engineering, and robust quality management practices. You will exercise strong indirect leadership, guiding and aligning cross-functional teams to successfully execute critical quality initiatives and project deliverables.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead JDM/EMS/ODM and Tier 2 component supplier management, covering end-to-end manufacturing quality management and performance oversight.
- Serve as the Supplier Development Engineering (SDE) Subject Matter Expert (SME) during New Product Introduction (NPI) early development, focusing on design reviews, DFX/DFMEA, and NUDD studies at the component and terminal level.
- Provide professional technical feedback in Source Review Board meetings to assess new process risks during supplier selection.
- Coordinate communication with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams for Product Change Notification (PCN) reviews and approvals.
- Lead Quality System and Lean Six Sigma audits to evaluate business and operational processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive CTQ (Critical to Quality) and Industry 4.0 implementation at supplier sites to standardize and optimize processes using FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, CPK, SPC, and Error Proofing.
- Utilize DOE, FMEA, and other industry-standard tools to proactively identify and address process risks and optimize process parameters.
- Initiate business improvements through DMI (Digitization/Modulization/Innovation) methodology and drive cost savings through Lean Six Sigma projects.
- Maintain supplier quality scorecards and leverage data visualization tools to present complex defect data, performance metrics, and recommendations to global management and Directors.
- Take the initiative to gather data for investigating potential non-conformances and create ad-hoc reports to drive business decisions.
- Assist in building accurate project schedules and provide input on budget items as requested.
- Lead critical issue triage meetings across the global Zebra operations team to resolve problems of significant scope and impact.
- Sustain quality performance management, interacting with management and external stakeholders to solve quality issues originating from the production line or customers.
- Serve as the organization's spokesperson and principal contact on specialized projects or programs requiring coordination across organizational lines.
- Contribute to category management and development as a Supply Chain Team (SCT) member, focusing on design and quality improvements.
- Coach and mentor colleagues on how to effectively develop and implement lessons learned while acting as an advisor to less senior engineers in vetting non-conformances.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of new technologies on product roadmaps and production by networking with key contacts outside your immediate area of expertise.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- Work Experience: 8+ years
