Your Job
As an Engineer 2 in Quality Molding, your primary role is to develop and manage molding quality to ensure that products meet customer specifications and quality standards. You will actively engage in analyzing product failures, driving corrective and preventive actions, and collaborating across teams to enhance product quality throughout the molding process.
Our Team
You will be part of the Consumer & Commercial Solutions division, specifically within the Quality Assurance (QA) team based in Malaysia. This role works closely with all levels within the plant and other Molex entities, as well as external counterparts, to maintain and enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
What You Will Do
- Analyze product failures and define corrective and preventive actions to address customer complaints effectively.
- Communicate proactively with customers regarding data summaries, updates, and corrective action reports.
- Collaborate with Quality Personnel and cross-functional departments to resolve product quality issues.
- Participate in product quality planning and control processes aligned with customer specifications and requirements.
- Keep quality management informed about customer feedback and expectations concerning product quality.
- Prepare and update all necessary quality reports and procedures as required by customers and internal standards.
- Train and guide the quality team in problem-solving methodologies to resolve customer quality issues.
- Prepare timely 8D reports for customers, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure implementation and closure of corrective actions documented in 8D reports.
- Streamline part measurement by removing stable dimensions and transitioning from manual to automated measurements through Keyence programming.
- Ensure the quality of molded parts and resolve molding-related quality issues.
- Control and monitor critical-to-process (CTP) dimensions in molding.
- Validate reject sorting to minimize over-reject rates and reduce molding Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) impacts.
- Conduct daily process line audits, including process parameter and CPS setting reviews.
- Perform daily CPM reviews with process engineers and production teams.
- Drive reductions and prevention of quality nonconformity (QN), defect material control (DMC), and return material (RN) issues in molding.
- Lead quality and productivity improvement initiatives both internally and with suppliers.
- Drive quality improvements for subcontractors and enhance CTP/CTQ dimension controls to reduce molding QAP issues.
- Benchmark and share best practices and control measures between molding and subcontractors.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Quality Engineer.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform engineering analyses and root cause investigations.
- High organizational skills to manage multiple projects with specific timelines.
- Effective communication skills including writing, one-on-one verbal interactions, and group meetings.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets).
- Knowledge of statistical tools and statistical process control (SPC).
- Understanding of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), control plans, and basic auditing.
- Good interpersonal skills to provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)
- Manufacturing Quality Engineer background.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as a Quality Engineer in related fields.
- Familiarity with database development, SPC software, and design of experiments.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
