Role Summary:

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing costs and quantities across pre-contract and construction phases of fit-out projects. This role focuses on take-offs, measurement, cost estimation, and procurement support, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in compliance with contract requirements. The QS will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to provide accurate and timely cost information throughout the project lifecycle.

Working Location: Kuala Lumpur

Work Schedule: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (AEST)

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract & Estimating:

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
  • Support bid preparation and submission processes.
  • Conduct feasibility and cost analysis for fit-out scopes.

Contract & Project Support

  • Administer and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project budgets, track variations, and prepare financial forecasts.
  • Review and assess project documentation including drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with project managers and site teams to ensure cost-effective delivery.
  • Provide regular cost reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Support dispute resolution and claims management as required.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in building construction.
  • Hands-on experience in fit-out trades, specifically: interior trades, drywall/plasterboard, suspended/decorative ceilings, and partitioning/linings.
  • Pre-contract experience with take-offs and measurement is essential.
  • Experience with take-off software is mandatory.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in take-off software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, Planswift, or Bluebeam).
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
