Quantum Research Scientist - FTQC Quantum Algorithms
QpiAI | Research & Algorithms
QpiAI is looking for a Quantum Research Scientist to develop fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, logical-circuit workflows, and resource-estimation methods for commercially relevant quantum computing applications.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop fault-tolerant quantum algorithms for chemistry, materials, optimization, simulation, sampling, linear systems, cryptanalysis, and scientific computing.
- Design scalable algorithms using phase estimation, amplitude estimation, quantum walks, block encoding, Hamiltonian simulation, and related FTQC primitives.
- Build resource-estimation workflows covering logical qubits, physical qubits, circuit depth, runtime, error budgets, code distance, and magic-state overhead.
- Map industrial problems into FTQC-ready formulations with clear assumptions, precision targets, oracle costs, and crossover analysis.
- Optimize logical circuits for error-corrected architectures, including synthesis, routing, scheduling, and architecture-aware execution constraints.
- Collaborate with QEC, compiler, hardware, HPC, and software teams to align algorithms with QpiAI's FTQC roadmap.
- Create patents, publications, invention disclosures, benchmarks, and strategic technical reports.
Required Skills
- Strong foundations in quantum algorithms, quantum information, complexity theory, numerical methods, and scientific computing.
- Deep understanding of fault-tolerant algorithm design, quantum simulation, quantum linear algebra, amplitude methods, and Hamiltonian-based formulations.
- Working knowledge of quantum error correction, logical qubits, stabilizer methods, logical gates, decoding overhead, and magic-state distillation.
- Experience with resource estimation, algorithmic scaling, accuracy/runtime trade-offs, and quantum-classical comparison.
- Strong programming ability in Python and practical experience with open-source quantum software and research tooling.
- Ability to convert real-world technical problems into rigorous FTQC algorithm and resource-estimation studies.
Qualifications
- MS/Ph.D. in Physics, Quantum Information, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of research experience in quantum algorithms, quantum simulation, QEC, FTQC, or resource estimation.
- Strong record demonstrated through publications, patents, open-source contributions, technical reports, or advanced prototypes.
- Excellent technical communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
