R&D Senior Optics/ Product Engineer
Job Description
- Design & Development: Design, model, and optimize optical systems, components (lenses, light source, photodiode arrangement), and subsystems for specific performance criteria. Experience in optical products design.
- Simulation & Analysis: Perform optical modeling, simulations (e.g., Zemax, Lumerical), tolerance analysis, and data interpretation to validate designs that fulfill Must-Want.
- Prototyping & Testing: Develop, build, test, and evaluate prototypes with ASIC, to confirm performance and functionality per optics simulation
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (marketing, mechanical, electrical, IC, test engineers) and external suppliers/vendors to materialize the design
- Documentation: Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings, and design documentation for internal/ external sharing
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues in optical systems, including tweaking, upgrades, repairs, maintenance, failure analysis, reverse engineering. Demonstrate ability to analyze data, and use various problem-solving methodology
- Research: Stay current with new optical technologies/ materials & ability to perform competitor analysis
- Others: Ability to do Product Engineering work for simple encoder system
