Job responsibilities:
- Participate in all phases of mechanical design and development, including proposal preparation, risk assessment, concept study, detailed design, analysis, drawing creation, prototyping, and testing.
- Responsible for mechanical design of enclosures, sheet-metal chassis systems, mechanical assemblies, automation, thermal management, optical, and fluidic systems.
- Conduct mechanical engineering tests, verification and validation tests, performance characterization, life-cycle, and reliability testing based on product specifications.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for issues identified during development and sustaining phases.
- Carry out component sizing, selection, and tolerance calculations.
- Conduct structural, thermal, and/or optical simulations.
- Perform cost reduction studies on existing instruments and propose feasible solutions.
- Design and manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) in alignment with project cost targets.
- Ensure all designs are properly documented and archived within the system.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams (PM, marketing, applications, hardware, manufacturing engineering, etc.) and external partners (suppliers, design partners, contract manufacturers).
- Generate product specifications, verification and validation plans, and test documentation.
Requirement:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or any related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a research and development (R&D) design environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is preferred.
- Familiarity with hinge manipulators is an advantage.
- Experience in one or more of the following design areas is preferred: mechanical mechanisms, low-cost automation, optics, fluid systems, chassis, or heating and cooling systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to adapt to a dynamic work environment, eager to learn new skills, capable of independent work, and possess strong communication and planning abilities
