Job Role: Regional Data Officer

Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines. It is part of the London-headquartered Howden Broking Group, a leading independent, global broker with offices in over 55 countries worldwide.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Divisional Data Officer to lead data strategies and execution across our Asia Broking business. This role is critical to embedding Group-wide data governance, driving data quality, and enabling analytics and AI adoption in line with our enterprise vision. You will act as a trusted advisor to the business and partner to the Group CDO team, ensuring data is a strategic asset that drives performance, innovation, and insight.

This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, understands the importance of strong data foundations, and is passionate about unlocking value through data and AI. You will be part of a growing global data community, contributing to shared learning, continuous improvement, and the evolution of our data capabilities.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with divisional business objectives and Group-wide objectives
  • Develop and maintain an executive KPI scorecard to enable data led leadership

Revenue Growth

  • Drive analytics initiatives that align with group strategy, delivering actionable insights and measurable impact
  • Promote and support the adoption of group-approved AI tools and patterns, helping the business innovate responsibly and effectively

Customer Experience

  • Enhance customer engagement by leveraging data to provide personalized services and improved client servicing
  • Deliver Broker analytics capabilities to support client servicing across business lines

Strategic Data Utilization & Revenue growth

  • Ensure the effective collection, management, and analysis of data, transforming data into actionable client and market insights
  • Drive revenue growth by executing existing Market Derived Income strategy and identifying new business opportunities through data analysis
  • Enhance marketing efforts by leveraging data to target the right customers with the right products

Operational Efficiency

  • Improve operational efficiency by streamlining processes and reducing overheads through effective data management

Work with Group-wide data leadership team

  • Champion and enforce data governance policies and standards, ensuring consistent application across the Asia Broking division.
  • Lead the implementation of data quality frameworks, ensuring data is fit for purpose and trusted across the business.
  • Drive analytics initiatives that align with Group strategy, delivering actionable insights and measurable impact.
  • Actively engage in Group data communities, sharing knowledge, best practices, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders (e.g. Compliance, Legal) to understand and fulfil any local Asia data governance regulatory requirements across the Asia Broking division
  • Build strong relationships with divisional and Group stakeholders, acting as a connector between business needs and data capabilities.

  • Proven leadership experience in data roles within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep expertise in data governance, management, and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering analytics and AI initiatives at scale.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Asia insurance market is essential.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and AI enablement frameworks.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a passion for building communities and driving change.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-paced environments.
