Job role: Regional Finance, Assistant Manager

Department: Regional Finance, Howden Malaysia

Report to: Regional Chief Finance Officer, Howden Singapore

Howden is a specialist commercial insurance broker. Its regional footprint covers Singapore (regional headquarters), Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Japan. YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial & Statutory reporting for holding companies

  • Prepare/Review general accounting items in Unit4 accounting system doing journals by
  • yourself
  • Review and approve monthly & quarterly reporting in Onestream system
  • Manage annual audit
  • Review annual XBRL prepared by outsourced agent

Tax reporting

  • Review tax computations
  • Review and submit quarterly GST reporting
  • Prepare and submit withholding tax (if any)

Regional Reporting

  • Analyse and consolidate monthly & quarterly reporting for stakeholders
  • Assist to resolve intercompany reconciliations and queries from group (if any)
  • Ensure subsidiaries meets reporting deadlines
  • Assist in preparing other ad-hoc reports for stakeholders
  • Analyse and consolidate budgets/forecast for stakeholders

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure accuracy and proper substantiation of balance sheet reconciliations in the region
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements while supporting business growth.

Other ad-hocs

  • Prepare/Coordinate administrative matters such as dividends approval etc
  • Assist in UAT if platform (Unit4/Chromeriver) undergoes upgrades (if any)
  • Participate in Ad-hoc Projects when required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum University graduate in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant working experience
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience is desired
  • Professional Accounting Qualification is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English
  • Self-initiative, proactive, analytical, organized, and ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A good team player and able to lead and inspire team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially MS Excel
