About the Role
We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our Asia Finance team, supporting operations across Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on tax expertise with strategic business partnering in a dynamic multinational environment.
As the regional tax lead, you will work closely with the UK Group Tax team and senior finance stakeholders across Asia, providing expert tax guidance, ensuring compliance, and supporting key commercial decisions. The role offers strong exposure to both operational tax matters and strategic projects, with future opportunities to build and lead a small team.
Based in our Sunway office, this position reports directly to the Asia Finance Director / Asia Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Lead tax compliance activities across Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, covering both direct and indirect taxes.
- Manage tax reporting requirements, including statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and group reporting.
- Oversee tax calculations, return submissions, tax payments, and related disclosures.
- Manage Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) notifications and transfer pricing matters.
- Act as the primary contact for tax authorities and coordinate tax audits and enquiries.
- Support employment tax matters and contribute to regional and global tax projects.
Business Partnering & Advisory
- Provide practical tax advice to finance and business stakeholders to ensure compliance while supporting commercial objectives.
- Partner with senior leadership on tax-related decision making and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the UK Group Tax team on regional tax matters and policy implementation.
- Identify tax risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to support sustainable business growth.
Financial Controls & Process Management
- Oversee tax-related balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of associated financial transactions.
- Support month-end activities and internal and external financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure appropriate tax controls and governance processes are maintained across the region.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across tax and finance operations.
- Strengthen internal controls and proactively resolve control gaps and process inefficiencies.
- Support finance transformation and change initiatives across the Asia business.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Tax or a related discipline.
- 3-6 years of relevant tax experience gained within a Big 4, professional services environment, or an in-house multinational organization.
- Strong knowledge of corporate tax and indirect tax (GST, VAT, SST) compliance and reporting.
- Experience working within multinational or large corporate environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels of the organization.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Experience with financial systems and reporting tools such as Great Plains, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ideally have a suitable accountancy or tax qualification related certificates
