Role Introduction

To ensure Cathay attracts, selects and brings on board the right people for our operations and the Cathay culture, whilst providing an excellent candidate experience.

To be an expert in recruitment and the Cathay selection processes, tools and techniques and have a strong ability to support line managers with excellent selection decisions and nurture talent through the recruitment and selection process.

To drive and execute the talent management framework for the region and work with the business units to build succession plans.

Key Responsibilities

People Management

  • Lead the TA & TM team to deliver the regional talent agenda aligned with global and regional People strategy.

Talent Attraction and Employer Branding

  • Deliver a strong, brand-enhancing candidate experience across all recruitment touchpoints.
  • Act as a brand ambassador promoting the employee value proposition and attracting talent.
  • Collaborate on policies and processes for sourcing, recruitment, selection, promotion, transfer, and onboarding.

Recruitment and Selection Process

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment from brief to onboarding with hiring managers.
  • Oversee TA team delivery of high-quality, brand-enhancing hiring processes.
  • Drive use of recruitment tools and ensure strong candidate experience with People Operations.
  • Design SEA&O TA strategy to improve speed-to-market and talent attraction.
  • Develop country TA strategies and build sustainable talent pipelines.
  • Conduct targeted searches for critical roles.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, discrimination, and data privacy regulations.

Line Manager Support

  • Provide expertise in interpreting test results, shortlists, interviews and assessment centre performance
  • Provide a sounding board on candidate performance and cultural fit
  • Provide a factual, impartial and fair assessment of candidates

High-Performance Culture and advance talent management

  • Own performance management and Annual Talent Review processes.
  • Drive adoption of performance frameworks across the business.
  • Build line manager capability with regional partners.
  • Coach and support managers and People Leads.
  • Provide tools, guidelines, and training to local teams.

Career Planning

  • Identify regional talent and support annual talent and performance processes.
  • Partner on training, development, and engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct focus groups to address attrition and retention.
  • Coordinate succession planning and talent tracking.
  • Support talent readiness and flight-risk mitigation.
  • Develop career pathways, rotation, and cross-training programmes.
  • Identify critical roles and ensure workforce continuity.
  • Provide talent updates to regional leadership.

Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • A degree in Human Resources or a related field is an advantage

Knowledge, Skills, Training And Experience

  • At least 8 years hands-on experience in talent management, recruitment and selection processes in a cross-country environment
  • Airline experience is an advantage
  • Strong cultural sensitivity with high cross cultural communication ability
  • Demonstrably good judgment and ability to remain impartial
  • Strong business acumen to understand current and future capability building requirements
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of total rewards philosophy & principles
  • Strong knowledge of SEA&O countries legislation related to recruitment and selection
  • Strong customer service orientation and is a comfortable in a highly matrix environment
  • Efficient and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and demonstrated ablity to lead team
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • A high degree of technological ability
