Position Overview
Key role focuses on APAC Master Data Management (governance, quality, standards, controls, and country enablement). On top, this role also supports cross-functional projects to drive process excellence, especially improving how data is collected, validated, and handed over end-to-end to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Master Data Governance & Strategy:
- Own and lead the APAC master data governance framework (people, process, and tools), ensuring consistent definitions, standards, controls, and compliance across markets.
- Define the governance operating model (roles, RACI, councils, stewardship), set a clear vision and roadmap, and drive adoption of standard ways of working.
- Drive and continuously improve end-to-end governance process flows (create/change/retire), partnering with Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial and IT to remove bottlenecks and ensure accountability.
- Establish governance KPIs and controls focused on data quality, right-first-time, control adherence and cycle time; provide visibility and coaching to support countries as transactional maintenance transitions locally.
Data Quality & Maintenance:
- Establish data quality rules, validation checks, and monitoring to ensure trusted master data for planning, procurement, manufacturing and customer fulfilment.
- Lead problem solving and root-cause analysis on defects (duplicates, invalid hierarchies, incorrect attributes), implement corrective and preventive actions, and prevent recurrence.
- Implement controls to maintain data integrity across JDE, MDM (Syniti) and connected enterprise applications, including clear ownership for data handoffs.
- Process Improvement & Automation:
- Identify and deliver automation and efficiency opportunities across the end-to-end master data lifecycle using Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.
- Partner with IT and business teams to design and implement scalable governance workflows, taking extra steps where needed to drive adoption, eliminate manual work, and improve cycle time.
- Lead or support master data initiatives (standardisation, harmonisation, migration, and analytics), including MDM/Syniti and JDE-related improvements.
Project Support & Process Excellence (Data Collection)
- Support cross-functional initiatives that require structured data collection (e.g., new business requirements, product/portfolio changes, regulatory needs), ensuring requirements are clear, complete and fit-for-purpose.
- Design and standardise data collection templates and intake processes (what to collect, definitions, mandatory fields, ownership), aligned to master data standards and downstream system needs.
- Embed validation rules and quality gates at the point of collection to reduce rework (right-first-time), including exception handling and clear escalation paths.
- Map and improve upstream-to-downstream data flows (request intake to system update), identify recurring failure points, and drive root-cause fixes to improve end-to-end process excellence.
- Leverage Microsoft 365/Power Platform to digitise data collection, automate approvals, and provide transparency on status, exceptions, and performance.
- Drive change management for improved data collection processes (communications, training, job aids), enabling country teams and stakeholders to execute consistently.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as APAC master data governance lead and primary escalation point, ensuring clear communication, decision-making and follow-through.
- Work with business owners and data stewards to raise data management maturity (standard definitions, right-first-time creation, and measurable business outcomes).
- Create governance playbooks, provide training, and coach data stewards/users to ensure consistent execution of standards and processes.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Develop and maintain governance dashboards and reporting (e.g., in Power BI) for data quality, adoption, control adherence, backlog/aging, and key risk indicators across APAC countries.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate data management requirements.
- Support internal audits and reporting requests, and drive remediation plans for any governance or data quality gaps identified.
Position Requirements & Key Abilities
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, IT, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in master data management, supply chain, or related functions.
- Proven experience setting up and running master data governance (operating model, process flows, controls, and stakeholder forums), ideally in a regional/APAC scope.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills, structured problem solving, and demonstrated capability in root-cause identification and sustainable fixes.
- Hands-on proficiency with MDM/data governance tools and workflows; advanced Microsoft 365 knowledge such as Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication; able to influence, lead governance discussions, and drive decisions across functions and countries.
Technical Knowledge:
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Power Query and Power BI; ability to translate data into clear insights and governance actions.
- Experience building or enhancing controls and automations (approvals, workflows, forms, and exception handling).
- Good understanding of supply chain processes and master data dependencies, with ERP exposure to JDE and MDM exposure to Syniti preferred.
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Knowledge of an additional APAC language is an advantage.
