The Wave Clinic integrates vocational, academic, and alternative education pathways, supported by a resident psychiatric team, child and adolescent psychiatrist, and resident nursing team, including a Transitions House for individuals in sustained recovery from eating disorders.
Role Description The Registered Nurse role is a full-time, on-site position based in Malaysia at The Wave Clinic's residential facility in Kuala Lumpur. The nurse will provide direct, trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate care to teenagers and young adults, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and supporting medical and psychiatric treatment plans. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with the multidisciplinary team, documenting clinical observations, participating in care planning, and assisting with therapeutic groups and meal support, particularly for young people with eating disorders. The nurse will help maintain a safe, structured environment, respond to crises, educate residents and families about health and recovery, and contribute to transitions planning for sustained wellness.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing qualification and registration (e.g., Registered Nurse) with eligibility to practice in Malaysia or willingness to obtain relevant licensure.
- Experience in adolescent mental health, behavioral health, or eating disorder treatment settings, preferably in residential or inpatient care.
- Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and clinical documentation within multidisciplinary care teams.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and relationship-building skills with young people, families, and colleagues in a therapeutic environment.
- Ability to work shifts, maintain professional boundaries, uphold safeguarding standards, and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Comfort working in a culturally diverse setting and in an international environment, with sensitivity to different backgrounds and identities.
- Training or familiarity with trauma-informed care, family-centered care, and evidence-based approaches to eating disorders is an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent; additional certifications in psychiatric or adolescent nursing are highly beneficial.
