Job Description

Job Summary

The BMC Helix Administrator is responsible for the end-to-end management, configuration, and maintenance of the BMC Helix platform, including Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB. This role ensures accurate asset visibility, relationship mapping, and integration with ITSM modules to support IT operations and service delivery. The role also involves managing Windows Server environments and, where applicable, Linux-based components to ensure platform reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

BMC Helix Discovery & Service Mapping

  • Administer and maintain BMC Helix Discovery (ADDM) scanners, credentials, and patterns.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Service Maps for business-critical applications.

CMDB Management

  • Maintain and ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of the CMDB in alignment with ITIL standards.
  • Manage CI relationships, normalization, and reconciliation processes.
  • Validate discovered data and ensure consistent integration between Discovery and CMDB.

System Administration

  • Manage BMC Helix infrastructure on Windows Server, including patching, backups, and performance optimization.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for Helix components and integrations.
  • Support Linux-based components when required (Linux knowledge is an advantage).

IT Operations Management (ITOM) & Monitoring

  • Work with BMC TrueSight Operations Management (TSOM) to monitor infrastructure and application health.
  • Leverage Dynatrace for application performance monitoring (APM) and service dependency insights.
  • Integrate monitoring data with CMDB and service maps to enable end-to-end service visibility.
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and analytics for proactive system management.

Governance & Reporting

  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and configuration baselines.
  • Produce reports and dashboards for CI accuracy, service health, and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits related to CMDB and system monitoring.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 57 years of experience in BMC Helix Discovery, Service Mapping, and CMDB Administration.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server management and basic Linux administration.
  • Familiarity with ITOM tools such as BMC TrueSight or Dynatrace (advantage).
  • Experience integrating Discovery with ITSM and monitoring systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with focus on data quality and system reliability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with infrastructure, application, and service management teams.
