Purpose of the Position
Responsible for leading Research & Development, new product development, formulation, product improvement, and cost optimization activities for the confectionery business of Network Food Industries, a subsidiary of Pet World Group.
The role works closely with Marketing, Production, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to develop innovative, high-quality, cost-effective products that meet customer and consumer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage new product development and formulation activities.
- Develop and improve confectionery products and formulations.
- Conduct product trials, testing, and scale-up.
- Monitor raw material quality and develop alternative ingredients and suppliers.
- Drive formulation and cost-saving improvements.
- Support Production in formulation and process-related issues.
- Handle customer and consumer technical enquiries.
- Work with Marketing and Operations on new product projects.
- Conduct technical evaluation of new products, ingredients, and processes.
- Maintain R&D records, formulations, specifications, and trial reports.
- Keep updated on new confectionery ingredients, products, and market trends.
- Support exhibitions, product launches, seminars, and other company activities when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of R&D / Product Development experience, preferably in the confectionery or food industry.
- Strong knowledge of food formulation, ingredients, and product development.
- Experience in product trials, scale-up, and commercialization.
- Good understanding of food quality and food safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and project management skills.
- Able to work independently and lead cross-functional projects.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Willing to travel when required.
