The role ensures reliable evacuation of power generated from the utility-scale solar PV plant to the National Grid while maintaining full compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), TNB Grid Code, Energy Commission regulations, and company operational standards.
The incumbent shall lead all engineering activities related to Extra High Voltage (EHV) systems, ensuring maximum plant availability, grid reliability, personnel safety, and continuous operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- EHV Grid & Safety Management: Serve as the appointed Competent Engineer for 275kV installations; manage high-voltage switching operations, outage plans with TNB GSO/NLDC, and strict compliance with ST regulations, PTW, and LOTO.
- Substation Asset Management: Oversee the operation and maintenance of 275kV GIS/AIS switchyards, Main Power Transformers, protection panels, and SCADA systems to ensure reliable renewable energy export.
- Protection & Grid Compliance: Manage protection relay coordination, lead disturbance and fault analyses using SCADA data, and coordinate testing (Primary/Secondary injection, End-to-End) and synchronization with TNB Grid.
- Reliability & Predictive Maintenance: Formulate EHV asset maintenance strategies, monitor equipment health via DGA, SF6 gas tracking, and thermography, and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment failures.
- Solar Engineering Support: Assist the O&M team with grid integration, minimize generation downtime during scheduled shutdowns, and support plant Performance Ratio (PR) targets.
- Contractor & Stakeholder Management: Oversee OEMs, contractors, and testing vendors; witness FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities while enforcing strict HSE standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain ongoing liaison with Suruhanjaya Tenaga, TNB Grid, SEDA, and DOSH to ensure total compliance with the Electricity Supply Act and ISO frameworks.
