As a Resident Engineer (Electrical) at Aurecon, you will be responsible for overseeing the electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations. You will play a key role in delivering complex infrastructure and building projects, including mission-critical facilities like data centers.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all electrical installation works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project requirements, and relevant Malaysian codes and standards
- Provide technical support and engineering solutions to site issues, coordinating closely with the design team, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, method statements, shop drawings, material submissions, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and constructability
- Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including HT/LV power distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing and lightning protection, UPS, ELV systems, and other critical infrastructure, where applicable
- Coordinate and witness inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover activities to ensure systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project and regulatory requirements
- Monitor workmanship and material quality, ensuring all installations meet project specifications, QA/QC requirements, and safety standards
- Verify that materials and equipment delivered to site comply with approved specifications and project requirements before installation
- Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, progress updates, non-conformance reports, and as-built documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Graduate Engineer or Professional Engineer
- Minimum 10 years of experience in site supervision for electrical services, preferably on industrial, manufacturing, institutional, pharmaceutical, data centre, or mission-critical developments
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services, including HT/LV power distribution, substations, transformers, generators, lighting, earthing and lightning protection, UPS, ELV systems, and other critical electrical infrastructure
- Familiar with local authority requirements, Malaysian codes and standards, testing & commissioning, QA/QC processes, and construction best practices
- Strong coordination, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders effectively
