Job Summary
As a Retail Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and creating compelling, on-brand retail design solutions across POSM and structural 3D design. As part of the Malaysia studio team, you will work across the end-to-end design process from brief to final artwork in close partnership with the studio, and account teams. You will bring ideas to life through high-impact visual storytelling across digital, retail, shopper, and experiential touchpoints, primarily supporting key client accounts.
Key requirements
- Strong command of 2D and 3D shopper/retail design, comfortable sketching ideas by hand and visualizing them through technology.
- Solid understanding of retail environment, innovations, and trends, with the ability to apply this knowledge to design execution.
- Experience delivering trade/shopper marketing executions, with a strong understanding of the end-to-end POSM production process.
- Ability to produce accurate technical drawings alongside 3D structural renders of retail unit, displays, and in-store layout for client presentations and production handover.
- Design and develop POSM materials including wobblers, shelf talkers, display units, FSUs, standees, and bunting - from concept through to final artwork.
- Translate marketing briefs and shopper insights into effective, on-brand retail design concepts.
- Background in retail design or shopper marketing is highly advantages, with a good understand of in-store environments, display mechanics, and how shoppers interact with retail spaces.
- Collaborate with internal studio, production, and account servicing teams to ensure timely delivery and alignment with brand guidelines.
- Adapt regional toolkits or master artwork into localized retail formats for different markets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality output under tight timelines.
- Ability to present design ideas clearly and confidently, sharing work with a logical narrative to internal teams and clients.
- Strong attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and a self-motivated approach to design and collaboration.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and innovations in shopper marketing and retail design.
- English proficiency required; Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus.
Prior Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in retail design, POSM, or structural design, preferably within a creative or advertising agency.
- Strong portfolio showcasing POSM, structural design, and 3D retail design work.
Proficient in:
- Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
- 3D modelling and rendering software (3DS Max, V-Ray)
- Nice-to-have:
- Experience working with FMCG or retail brands (i.e. designed for beauty/health/oral care industry)
- Knowledge of shopper journey mapping and retail strategy
- Familiarity with Office 365
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Design or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
