Discovering the role

The position of Safety and Health officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment throughout the project lifecycle. The incumbent will develop policies, conduct risk assessments, implement safety strategies and work closely with engineers and project teams to ensure compliance with all relevant safety and health regulations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures and regulations throughout the project.
  • Regularly review and update safety protocols to ensure compliance with local, national, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with OSHA standards, environmental safety guidelines, and company safety practices.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for project activities and identifying potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies in collaboration with the engineers and technical teams.
  • Continuously monitor and inspect work areas to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Support in preparing project documents related to EHS.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular audits and inspections, documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of all safety related activities, incidents, training and compliance checks.
  • Prepare and submit regular safety reports to management and relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Possess a diploma or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in health and safety management
  • In-depth knowledge of local, national and international health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and accident investigations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
