Job Description: Residential Solar Sales Consultant

About the Role

We are looking for a driven and customer-focused Residential Solar Sales Consultant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of sales experience, preferably in a consultative sales environment. Previous solar experience is not required, but the candidate must be confident engaging with homeowners, understanding their needs, and guiding them through a solution-based sales process.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys building relationships, explaining products clearly, and helping residential customers make informed decisions about energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with residential customers to understand their energy needs, budget, and long-term goals.
  • Conduct consultative sales conversations and recommend suitable solar solutions.
  • Explain the benefits of residential solar, including cost savings, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Manage leads through the full sales cycle, from initial enquiry to closing.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and basic financial savings information.
  • Build strong relationships with homeowners and provide a professional customer experience.
  • Follow up with prospects and maintain accurate records in the CRM system.
  • Work closely with technical, installation, and operations teams to ensure a smooth customer journey.
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales targets and activity KPIs.
  • Stay informed on basic solar products, market trends, and company offerings through training and support.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of sales experience, ideally in a consultative or customer-facing sales role.
  • Experience selling to residential customers, homeowners, or individual consumers is advantageous.
  • Solar or renewable energy experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong communication, persuasion, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to listen to customer needs and recommend practical solutions.
  • Confident presenting proposals and explaining product value.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Good follow-up discipline and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer literacy and experience using CRM systems is advantageous.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a natural communicator who can build trust quickly with homeowners. He should be commercially minded, confident in consultative selling, and able to guide customers through a decision-making process. A strong sales attitude, willingness to learn about solar, and ability to close deals are more important than direct solar experience.
