We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow our customer base in the freight forwarding and logistics industry. The ideal candidate will have strong industry knowledge, a proven sales track record, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing sales team. This is a strategic role focused on acquiring new business, nurturing key accounts, and driving overall revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development:
- Acquire new customers through a structured and rigorous prospecting cycle to achieve profitable revenue targets.
- Account Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with clients under a Key Account Management model, ensuring long-term partnership and customer satisfaction.
- Sales Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement strategic sales initiatives aligned with company goals to expand market share.
- Sales Team Development:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing sales team. Responsible for recruitment, training, setting KPIs, and monitoring performance.
- Client Engagement:
- Conduct face-to-face sales meetings, deliver presentations, and communicate effectively with potential and existing clients.
- Solution Selling:
- Prepare and deliver customized, solution-based proposals that address specific customer logistics needs.
- Tender Management:
- Handle tender submissions, including documentation preparation, internal coordination, and timely submission.
- Rate Sourcing & Quotations:
- Source competitive rates from shipping lines, transportation providers, warehouses, and overseas agents. Prepare accurate quotations and follow up on sales leads.
- Operational Coordination:
- Monitor shipment arrangements independently and ensure timely, efficient delivery.
- Customer Service:
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams including operations, finance, and customer service to support seamless service delivery.
- Other Duties:
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Department Head or Management.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education:
- Minimum SPM / Secondary School qualification.
- Experience:
- At least 8 years of working experience in sales or indoor sales within a Shipping Line, NVOCC, or 3PL company.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of sea freight (FCL & LCL), domestic transportation.
- Airfreight knowledge is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with Dangerous Goods (DG) and ISO Tank handling is a plus.
- Commercial Acumen:
- Strong ability to source competitive rates and negotiate effectively with carriers, suppliers, and overseas agents.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness and ability to learn new systems and platforms.
- Languages:
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Mandarin-speaking ability is preferred.
