About the Role:
The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading and driving business growth within the water industry segment. This role plays a strategic function in expanding market share, strengthening key client relationships, and positioning technical solutions effectively within municipal and industrial water projects. The position requires strong commercial acumen, technical understanding, and leadership capabilities to manage both direct sales activities and distributor networks.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to penetrate the water and wastewater treatment market, including municipal, industrial, and infrastructure projects, ensuring achievement of annual revenue and profitability targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through active engagement with consultants, contractors, system integrators, plant operators, and government-linked entities involved in water-related projects.
- Lead end-to-end sales processes including prospecting, technical presentations, proposal preparation, tender submissions, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Manage key accounts by building long-term partnerships, understanding customer technical requirements, and positioning engineered solutions that address operational challenges and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with engineering and technical teams to ensure accurate product specifications, technical clarifications, and timely project execution in alignment with client expectations.
- Monitor project pipelines, market trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies within the water sector to provide actionable market intelligence and adjust commercial strategies accordingly.
- Oversee pricing structures, margin management, and sales forecasting to ensure sustainable profitability and accurate reporting to senior management.
- Represent the organization at industry exhibitions, technical seminars, and networking events to enhance brand visibility and establish strategic partnerships within the water ecosystem.
- Mentor and guide junior sales engineers or executives, fostering a performance-driven culture while ensuring alignment with business objectives and ethical sales practices.
- Ensure effective after-sales coordination including order processing, delivery follow-up, technical support, and customer satisfaction management to strengthen repeat business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive sales experience within the water, wastewater treatment, or related industrial engineering sector, with proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of water treatment processes, flow control systems, valves, pumps, or related mechanical equipment used in municipal and industrial applications.
- Demonstrated experience handling project-based sales, tender submissions, and dealings with consultants, contractors, and government authorities.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decision-makers at multiple levels.
- Strong commercial acumen with solid analytical and forecasting capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and sales cycles concurrently in a structured and disciplined manner.
- Willingness to travel as required to support project discussions, site visits, and client engagements across East Malaysia region.
