Job Description

Position: Schedule Controller

Duration: ASAP September 2027

Contract: Initial 1-year, renewable; extension aligned with project completion

Location: East Malaysia (Borneo Island)

Client & Project Overview

The organization is a leading global provider of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services, currently executing a high-profile project within the energy and industrial sectors. The project is based in Malaysia and requires dedicated project controls to ensure the effective monitoring of complex timelines.

Scope

  • To ensure effective planning, monitoring, and reporting of project timelines while supporting the Project Manager with accurate scheduling insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule Development: Maintain and update the project schedule using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Progress Monitoring: Identify delays, analyze the critical path, and recommend corrective actions to ensure milestones are met.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Prepare regular reports highlighting progress and potential risks while supporting resource forecasting based on schedule requirements.
  • Coordination: Gather updates from various project teams and integrate changes into the master schedule.
  • Risk Mitigation: Assist in schedule recovery planning and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Compliance: Ensure all scheduling activities comply with both company and client project management standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record as a Schedule Controller or Planning Engineer on large-scale projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 (preferred) or MS Project.
  • Solid understanding of advanced scheduling techniques.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in oil & gas EPC projects.
  • Experience in turnaround / shutdown / brownfield projects.
  • Engineering or piping construction background is a strong plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities to coordinate effectively under pressure.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
