About the Team
The Search Operations team is dedicated to enhancing search user experience, driving substantial DAU growth for the product, and boosting traffic as well as GMV.
Under the Search Operations team, our Recommendation & Traffic team oversees the day-to-day operation of trending events across global markets. As a content-driven platform, trends play a pivotal role in driving user engagement, consumption, and retention on TikTok. Looking ahead, our long-term vision is to establish TikTok as the go-to platform for discovering and engaging with trends, fostering a user mindset of searching for trends on TikTok.
Responsibilities:
- Trending Monitoring and Analysis: Maintain a high sensitivity to both international and local trending topics, and be able to read and understand global and domestic trends fluently in Japanese and English. The role requires working with Japanese-language content and collaborating with Japanese-speaking stakeholders, making Japanese proficiency essential for accurate content interpretation and communication.
- Content Evaluation and Editing: Possess strong bilingual (Japanese and English) verbal and written communication skills. Based on business needs, write English and Japanese titles and summaries that align with trending topics and have strong dissemination potential. Content should be accurate and rigorous while also engaging users. Be able to draft SOPs and other guideline documents in both Japanese and English.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to drive the implementation of trending operations strategies. Clearly communicate requirements to technical teams to ensure support from relevant features and tools, enabling smooth business operations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent proficiency in Japanese and English, with fluent bilingual verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with global stakeholders in both languages, particularly in contexts involving Japanese-language content and market insights.
- Bachelor's degree or above, with a strong ability to learn quickly.
- Strong interest in reading news and information, with regular attention to global trending topics.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in news media or internet platforms (such as editing, content operations, or strategy operations). Candidates with original portfolios, self-media accounts, or personal projects are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passionate about news and information, with an interest in reading and writing. Demonstrates a thoughtful and balanced perspective on social issues, along with strong communication and collaboration skills.
