Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Section Manager for Product Engineering to lead the product engineering function specializing in the repair of airfoil components, including compressors & turbines blades and vanes.
This role focuses on the development, substantiation, and lifecycle management of repair schemes, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and support for production efficiency. The Section Manager, Product Engineering will act as the technical owner of the repair portfolio, managing a team responsible for creating, improving, and sustaining repair solutions that meet engine regulatory requirements.
Knowledge transfer and/or train the production or technical employees on the technical processes used in the production floor based on the approved training syllabus or materials
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Product Engineering team in developing and managing repair schemes for airfoil components across multiple engine platforms (e.g., CFM56, V2500, CF6-80, TRENT series).
- Serve as the technical authority on inspection & repair processes, including dimensional restoration, welding, machining, heat treatment, coatings (e.g., HVOF, Plasma Spray), and other processes used in airfoil repairs.
- Own the product repair lifecycle – from technical development, to approval, implementation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure engineering documentation (work instructions, repair substantiations, technical justifications) meets OEM, regulatory and / or customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Value Stream Enablement teams to resolve technical issues on the shop floor, including corrective action implementation.
- Interface with OEMs and stakeholders to understand evolving requirements, incorporate feedback, and expand in-house capabilities.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections from an engineering and product readiness standpoint.
- Support audits with regulatory bodies (CAAM, FAA, EASA, etc) and support external repair approvals, including DER involvement where necessary.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives, product yield improvement, process optimization, and repair development strategy to maintain competitive technical offerings.
- Provide technical mentoring and career development for engineers within the product engineering group.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff to build technical depth and leadership bench strength.
- Comply and support Environmental Health & Safety policies, rules and regulations at all times
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree or professional registration is a plus.
- Experience:At least 7 years of experience in an aerospace MRO or OEM environment, with a strong focus on component-level repair development.
- Minimum 3 years in a technical leadership or product engineering role.
- Technical Skills:Strong familiarity with OEM documentation (ESM, SPM, OEM deviation documentation etc), and regulatory requirements under CAAM, FAA, and EASA Part 145
- Soft Skills:Strong project management, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator with ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams.
- Leadership mindset focused on mentoring, technical rigor, and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with engine OEMs requirements such as General Electric, SAFRAN, Pratt & Whitney or Rolls-Royce.
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated experience with airfoil component repair processes and the substantiation process
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of airfoil repair technologies, metallurgy, material behavior etc.
- Proficient in engineering software tools (CAD, Solidworks, etc).
Hands-on experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and / or repair qualification
